Can I take a suitcase into Hongya Cave?

Avoid this. The complex is a maze of narrow stairs and dense crowds. Dragging luggage here is a miserable experience. Store it at your hotel or a metro locker.

Is there an elevator from the bottom (Level 1) to the top (Level 11)?

Yes, but the queue is often 30-45 minutes long. If you are fit, take the stairs. If not, use a car/taxi to drive around to the top entrance.

Is the food actually good?

It’s convenient. The food on Level 4 is classic tourist fare. It’s spicy, oily, and hot, but you pay a “convenience tax.” It does the job if you are hungry, but for a meal that changes your life, walk 15 minutes into the residential backstreets of Jiefangbei.
