Detailed Itinerary
A relaxed 2-day Chongqing highlights tour covering panda and must-visit city landmarks.
-
After a 30-minute ride from your downtown Chongqing hotel, your guide and driver will take you to Chongqing Zoo. Giant pandas are active for a limited morning window (9:00–10:30 AM). Arrive on time, and you’ll almost always see them eating bamboo and climbing—rather than sleeping.
After enjoying time with the pandas, continue to Liziba Railway Station. Watch the light-rail train pass directly through a residential building, and capture this surreal moment—one of Chongqing’s most photographed sights.
For a taste of local life, we dive into Guanyin Bridge. It is the best place to try street snacks. We will explore the busy pedestrian street to find the tastiest bites.
In the evening, head to Hongya Cave, the city’s most popular riverside attraction. We navigate the maze to find a clear vantage point by the Jialing River, allowing you to admire the traditional “stilt house” architecture. -
Begin your second day with an iconic ride on the Yangtze River Cableway. This aerial cable car crosses the Yangtze River and gives you a clear view of Chongqing’s skyline, bridges, and steep city hills.
After the breathtaking cableway ride, head to Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street. Immerse yourself in the fashion center of Chongqing—shop at high-end boutiques and hunt for local souvenirs.
In the afternoon, immerse yourself in 18 Steps (Shibati). Wander the stone stairs to watch locals sipping tea or playing Mahjong, capturing the slow-paced soul of Old Chongqing.
Conclude your tour at the Mountain City Trail. It is a great place to enjoy open views of the Yangtze River and see how Chongqing mixes old streets with modern city life.
After the visit, your driver will take you back to your hotel or directly to the airport or railway station if you have a departure.
(Besides, extension tours are available on your request to visit Chengdu (4-hour ride), or Wulong (3-hour ride) for onward journey.)

🍰 Where to find local snacks in Chongqing?
Jiefangbei and Guanyin Bridge (Guanyinqiao) are two of the best areas for street food, packed with local snacks and busy night scenes. Ciqikou Ancient Town is also a great choice, known for its traditional snacks like Máhuā.
👣 Are there many steps in 18 Steps and the Mountain City Walkway?
Yes, both sites involve steep stone stairs. If you’re traveling with family or have specific needs, we can provide child seats or skip stairs (e.g., replace 18 Steps with a flat alley) – just let us know your needs in advance.
🏞️ Is 2 days enough to see the above attractions in Chongqing?
Yes, absolutely. All the attractions are located in Chongqing downtown and the distance between each stop is short—usually less than a 15-minute drive. If you want to explore deeper, check our 4-day Chongqing Wulong highlights Tour for a deeper experience.
